    Strange Pekin Egg Deformity

First one I've gotten like this. Purina Layena feed + mealworms; cold snap then humid weather. Any ideas what could cause this?

    Male/Female ratio? (Pekins)

Their voices have become far more distinctive in the last few weeks. I believe we have one male and 3 females as best I've been able to tell by size, voice, and beginnings of a single drake feather. Thank you all for your input, and I'm just really happy to avoid a cull my first year. Much love...

    Male/Female ratio? (Pekins)

They were hatched late July. Ive been trying to listen to their voices, but they all make so much noise! Lol

    Male/Female ratio? (Pekins)

I think the big one is a male for sure, but I'm not so sure about the other 3. I want to keep only one male out of the four, so I'm having to make some decisions as they get closer to laying age. Any help, advice, or anecdotes are appreciated in advance!

How to keep the bugs away?

The light is on a timer to give them 16hr of light. And I have no clue what some of the bugs are, most are flies.

How to keep the bugs away?

Mint grows wild around here, just no where near my house. Would that help for next year? This is their pen, just for reference

    They live outside now!

We have a couple of citronella torches out there right now, but I'm going to the feed store in a bit to get some diatomaceous earth to put in there. The mosquito bag things aren't a bad idea, but the flies and other creepy crawlies I've no clue what to do with. I've trenched a bit down the hill...

Thanks so much! They seem pretty happy in there :love now if I could just keep the bugs out of their feed I'd be set!

How to keep the bugs away?

We live on the edge of a forest, and our duck pen has been overrun with opportunistic insects looking for a free meal from the duck feed. Not to mention the ton of mosquitoes! Anyone have good insect repellant tips or tricks? I think I'm going to try diatomaceous earth in their feed this...

    They live outside now!

I used 2" hexagonal wire, and they definitely still get their whole heads in there! I need to secure it better because it seems like I am constantly fixing it back in place, but it has cut down on a huge amount of splashing.

Almost completely done, just a few adjustments to the house next weekend and we'll be done!

    They live outside now!

There is a red fox that lives in the woods near here, I've seen him crossing the road near us when I drive home from night shifts. He's the one I'm most worried about. I haven't seen any raccoons, but that doesn't mean that they aren't out there. Plenty of skunk, though. I'll give the hardware...

Play sand, like for a kids sandbox. It's whatever Lowes had on hand
