Hi @Hedwigsmom just read through your thread. So sorry to read about your flock, heartbreaking. You’ve shown such love and dedication though, in helping and healing your chickens. I hope the wounded are soon healed and they settle back down again. Sending my best wishes from Cheshire, UK.
Hi @Ccort so sorry she’s not any better. I’ve never lost a hen with sour crop so can’t give a view. Just wanted to say though it’s obvious how much you love her, and are committed to her wellbeing ♥️
I’m in the UK and out of sync with the response times, so hope she’s still with you this...
Totally get that, and 100% agree.
There’s a fine line between doing all you can and trying anything, and by the sounds you’re doing absolutely right by her.
Sending my best and I hope she turns a corner. x

This was the recipe I used.
I was really concerned re: aspiration. Was careful to slowly drip the mixture at the side of her beak and not squirt any into her throat...
Hi, ah that’s good that the vet has seen her.
I was just trying to find a post on here that I referred to when I had some crop issues with an ex-commercial / battery hen I adopted earlier this year. She had an impacted crop - went from cage to free ranging in a short time and I didn’t think...
Thanks @Shadrack I’ve been using disposable gloves when putting anti fungal cream on her comb for the last 3 days.
Today it looked a lot more like the skin on her comb is peeling and the swelling has gone down now, and I can see that it is only on the top side of her comb (it flops over)...
Thanks so much @Wyorp Rock yep, she’s doing ok 🤞 just don’t want to miss anything that will jeopardise that. Have applied the anti fungal cream again this morning, and have left her happily munching through her breakfast! Hopefully @Shadrack will chirp in too, I see they are in Bristol, so...
I obviously want this to be anything but Favus! (have applied the anti fungal cream today however) am I clutching at straws to wonder whether, as a result of the recent scorching sun in the UK, that this might be sunburn on her comb? This summer would be the first time she’s been exposed to the...
Hello @Wyorp Rock here she is this morning. She’s an ex-batt hen I’ve had her for 8 weeks. She sustained some peck scratches on her comb from the initial pecking order squabbles between the 3 ex batts I got together. She’s always been pale, her comb has shrunk as expected but she’s left with...
