I certainly can ask my partner to assist in holding her for me! She’s pretty good at staying still when I want her to (such as clipping her nails if they get too long, etc) She’s a very good girl! I just get nervous because I love her so much! Thank you for your suggestion! <3
Her leg was dislocated in the egg before she hatched. The vet said she’s not in pain and since she’s fully grown and accomidated to it, that she’s fine to continue her little chicken life! (Hence why she lives indoors with me)
Also worth mentioning that she is a year old so she is fully feathered. I am uncomfortable clipping her bottom because I am afraid of accidentally cutting her if she squirms
My Rhode Island Red has a bad leg so she cannot perch to poop, therefore gets some build up on her butt. I was thinking about bathing her in epsom salt to break up the poop on her butt as I don’t want it to lead to infection, but at the same time, I don’t want to bathe her because I heard it’s...
thank you!!! she’s so perfect, she brings me so much joy! i give her as much attention as possible. i’ve been sitting here with her on my lap for about three hours now today lol! her name is Button! how many chickens do you have? are they social?
thank you for having me! i’m so happy to be a part of the conversation. i want to give my girl the best life i can! this website has helped me through a LOT over the past five months while i’ve been researching!
thank you so much!!! i’m so happy to be here! she is very adorable, she’s so little for her age but she’s slowly catching up! i’m proud of my little fighter! i love spending hours with her everyday, she genuinely brings me so much joy!
i really appreciate everyone getting back to me so quickly and being so helpful. i’m still learning so i appreciate everyone’s kindness and support! i will be making changes to her enclosure now, i’m just so glad she’s not sick and that it’s an easy fix! <3 i was so embarrassed posting here, i...
thank you!!! i’m definitely going to repurpose my old clothes in doing that, she may even enjoy pecking the clothes, she loves “grooming” me and my clothes lol!
thank you!!! i appreciate everyone’s kindness here. she totally has plenty (if not too much) room, she just loves the one corner where i put mirrors against the walls. i’ll invest now in some hanging ones as well as moving those corner mirrors to hopefully discourage her from leaning against the...
perfect, thank you! i actually have a bunch of old clothes that aren’t good enough to donate, i’ll repurpose them to do that :) thank you!!! i’m also gently stroking up her feathers and they’re definitely doing better, but not perfect. i’ll be more cautious about my placement of her mirrors/toys...
hello! thank you!!! it is very big, she has plenty of room to turn around and explore. i think it’s because she spends her time in the corner where i keep the mirrors attached to the walls. i’m going to try moving the mirrors away from the wall (especially in corners) and see how that goes 🥰
thank you!!! i just replied to another post in which they said the same thing! like i said there, she does like to lay in the corner where i hung a couple of mirrors, so ill try moving those first for a week, and if the problem continues i’ll invest in a bigger space. i want to make life perfect...
