I guess the other thing to consider is drainage, obviously rain wouldn't drain out very easily if it got on there. However it'd definitely be secure against digging. Just thinking. Perhaps another spot would be better. Obviously it'd be easier to not get the neighbor's okay too :) This is why...- chibisan

Yes, our yard is completely fenced, although just chain link fence, so it isn't very high. However we have a larger than average yard for our area. Obviously there would be either bedding or sand or something on top of the cement, not just plain cement all the time, I was just thinking as a base...- chibisan

Trying to decide where in the yard we would put some chickens, we have a rather large concrete slab from where I assume the previous home owners had a hot tub? It's not smooth concrete, rather it has a smooth pebbley top. Is it feasible to build the coop/run completely on top of that? Obviously...- chibisan

Mind if I just jump in and say hi? I'm trying to learn as much as I can, just found out that my city (White Bear Lake) finally approved chickens! So thinking we may get some next summer, to give me ample time to research and plan! And really convince the husband that we need some chickens :)...- chibisan
