The bump is soft. It feels like when you get a burn bubble or blister bubble that you could pop with a pin or poking it.
No bubbles around eyes from what I can tell. What would that mean?
Hi everyone. Just trying to figure out what this is and what to do about it. My other chickens don't appear to have any lumps like this one so I would assume it is not face mites.
Looks like cancer...Do chickens get pimples???
Anyways, hear is a pic. Any thoughts are welcome.
And i forgot...
They have tons of room. 250ft2 for the 5 of them. The coop was designed for 4 chickens. The roost is only 4' long. I put a second roost perpendicular and a little lower. She is almost always down low by herself on it.
The thing is when I had only 4 chickens and the coop was sized better...
Good morning.
I added a couple new chicks to my flock a few months ago (5 total). They have integrated well except for the fact one of them has no feathers on the top her head now. I assume she is getting pecked like my old one that died and had a bald spot.
I do not see the pecking so I do...
Good advice but not practical for me. I live in a bigger city. She is already embarrassingly loud sometimes. I do everything in my power to get her to not squak before 7am. If she were crated she would piss the neighbour hood off 24/7
Would she eat all the eggs then or just her own?
All the others are fine all the time.
And most of it is not eaten. Just smashed everywhere and i have to clean it up.
I do not have the package anymore, I am sorry.
Shell is thick, seems normal.
If there are any canadians here it is mash from Sharpes Farm supplies who are pretty big in Ontario.
Completely broken.
2 years old. They are eating mash with calcium suppliments. Plus compost.
I am battling some mites right now. Is it possible she is scratching while laying? or rubbing her belly and breaking the egg?
Her tummy feathers are kinda flimsy and I can see some skin. Feather...
Hi everyone.
I keep getting a broken egg every day basically.
I believe it is my columbian X. Haven't seen one of her eggs in a while. (I only have 4 so i know there eggs well)
She is pretty large compared to the other chickens. My 2 nesting boxes were like 12X10X10.5". Was fine for the...
I get hatchery hens as well. My girls are young still. A year and a half.
I do not think I have it in me to give one away lol.
I would be more inclined to just keep the original 4 and deal with a few less eggs in the winter then lose one of the crew.
Thanks for the info.
Older hen it is.
Being raised alone was a big concern of ours as well, just forgot to mention it.
I will probably throw up a new fenced in area maybe 8x4'. Leave a cage with some straw at night for the new one to go in and let her hang there for a few days. and go from...
Hi everyone.
I have room in my coop for 1 more hen and only 1 more. We are just a little shy of eggs in the winter for the 2 of us with the 4 hens.
I know the rule of thumb is not to integrate 1 hen but multiples so they have their own buddies, but that won't work for us.
My main question is...
