    I only have 5 chickens and it is a big run. Almost like free ranging but with a large fence. 25'x20' plus some side shoots for them to play in. It is not covered. I just fenced off half the back yard.

    The bump is soft. It feels like when you get a burn bubble or blister bubble that you could pop with a pin or poking it. No bubbles around eyes from what I can tell. What would that mean?

    Integrating 1 hen into a flock of 4

    I get hatchery hens as well. My girls are young still. A year and a half. I do not think I have it in me to give one away lol. I would be more inclined to just keep the original 4 and deal with a few less eggs in the winter then lose one of the crew.
