    Silkie chick color

I own silkies, too. The funny thing about them is that their colors change. I had a tiny yellow baby who grew up to be a white and grey roo. I had a fluffy white one who grew up to have brown patches everywhere, even though he didn't have it when he was a baby. So its super hard to tell. I think...

    Hello, hello, hello!

Thank you! You guys are so helpful. I have the chick in a different box right now, but I haven't put the other chicks in with her because I am afraid that she might be sick and thats why she got kicked out. The momma isn't going crazy trying to kill her, she just pulls out some baby feathers...

    Help me! Sleepy baby chick?

I will definitely try that! Do you think the momma kicked the baby out because it was sick...?

    Hello, hello, hello!

When the chick was born I picked her up to check her out, but after that I just left her with the momma. I only started to notice the pecking when the momma went out to eat and the chicks followed her.

I know most people wouldn't have so many roosters, but I was hoping they would all be female when we...

    Yet another Free Range Question

My hens used to free range, and I loved it! They would always come running up to the car when we pulled into the driveway. Yet, they do make messes on the porch and have a knack of eating your garden. So, my mother made me make a fenced in coop for them . We do have roosters that free range...

Is it ok to use a egg a dead hen was sat on?

Well it depends, wouldn't it? Was the hen brooding? If she was, you probably wouldn't want to eat those eggs.... Because of baby chickens and all. But if she just happened to be standing over the eggs and died, making it look like she died sitting on them, then probably yes. Because those are...

    Help me! Sleepy baby chick?

Please help me! My hen's eggs just hatched, yet she was attacking one of the babies whenever she saw it. I of course grabbed the little baby away. She is a silkie bantam, but we put some fertilized sultan eggs under her along with her own pure silkie eggs. As I held the baby, his head started...
