The Coop looks great. We are actually building our first one now in the shed. It's an 8x10. Its movable but we plan on putting it in place and leaving it there unless we need to move it.
I tried to give them some lettuce but they didn't really want anything to do with it. I'm going to keep trying. They might not of ate it just because they are not used to it!
I tried to look on the bag of feed we just emptied for whats in it but I couldn't find a list. Is that normal because I checked on the new bag I just bought too and didn't see one?
The cheapest layer feed I could find at TSC today was $16.99 for 50 lbs. I think that's a lot to pay for it but its all I could find right now. My problem is a lot of the local suppliers are only open when I am at work. I wish they'd stay open just a little later. I went to one yesterday on my...
I think I am just going to keep my chicks on the starter until the bag runs out and then switch them to grower. By the progress I've seen so far it seems like it will be around the right time maybe.... I guess I'll have to wait and see if I'm comfortable with it. They are almost 4 weeks old now...
I hope this is ok but I've started giving my chicks a very small amount of construction sand (with the bigger stuff sifted out) since I put a treat bar in their brooder.
Also I can't really get in the brooder I have made for them and when I try to pick up one they all go running and squawking...
So I've been trying to find more bedding for the chicks brooder. For some reason I don't want to use pine shavings until they are older.
I looked at TSC on Thursday after they had received their new truck shipment and they didn't have any in stock. So over the weekend I went to Rural King to...
I'm new to this too! I haven't started building my coop yet but have been thinking of plans for it. Should start building soon though because I am sure the chicks will be grown before I know it!
Thanks for bringing this topic up. I plan on letting my chickens free range too. I know we have hawks in the area because I just saw one on a trail cam last week!
Thanks everyone! I am still learning the ropes of this website and raising my chicks! So far so good though. They are all still happy and running around all over their brooder!
