Looking for a brahma breeders that can offer a mix of light, dark and buff eggs. Must have lots of feather on their feet! My father loves their "britches" haha.
She's completely healed and fits in with the flock just fine. She has no exposed skull and feathers are growing back where I didn't expect. She's also hand tamed and doesn't seem to have mental trama which is a relief! I'm very happy she's making a full recovery and living life to the fullest as...
This is yesterday's update. I gave her calcium sand to dirt bath in and it stuck to the Neosporin on her head. Maybe it wasn't my greatest idea but she sure had fun. I did my best to rinse off the sand and put more Neosporin on. It's healing it's just taking a long time. I'll keep everyone posted.
She got too close to a mother hen who was raising 5 of her own chicks. She's a very aggressive mother. She's great at keeping her chicks alive but I have to be careful about other young chickens being around her. It's so unfortunate. I really feel awful about it.
The healing process is taking a long time but she's doing really well. The only thing I do for her now is put Neosporin on in the morning and let it dry out during the night. She's in a sterile set up inside the house. I use pee pads so she doesn't get anything in her wounds. I'll be cautious...
She's looking much better after a night of drying out. This morning I did another rinse of saline and just a tiny dab of Neosporin on the bone. I'll do another rinse of saline tonight and give her the night to dry again. She's got a long road of healing but she's got her energy back today and...
The laser thermometer reads her head temp at 90 degrees and her back/body temp 100.5 so her head is staying cool. I haven't given her much time to dry out I didn't know if letting things dry would prevent skin from growing over the bone? Maybe I'll give her a rinse of saline tonight and then...
This chick was scalped 2 nights ago. The first night I used peroxide, saline and white cream Neosporin. The next morning I tried taking off the Neosporin but some of it wouldn't come off. I used saline and then iodine to rinse it after getting off as much cream as I could. Then applied clear...
