I hope for the best for your girl! I will be sure to post the results when they come back. One thing I will say is Kaytee's hand feeding formula was something the vet recommended to give her to help feed her the calories she needed. If you can get that for your hen it may help her fight whatever...
She unfortunately didn't make it. Her sudden upswing in her condition lasted only for the day and I believe it was what is called "terminal lucidity". She was happy though, and very loved. We brought her to the vet when her condition turned for the worst the next morning, where she was humanely...
Small update: I will preface this by saying I am still not optimistic about her prognosis.
HOWEVER, I am also sitting here flabbergasted. I'm stunned. I don't know what to think.
She was at the door of her crate wanting OUT, I opened it to check on her, she waltzed right out, no stumbling, and...
I understand and you're right, I don't want her to suffer. I just mean I can't bear to do it myself. I did research vets locally and am prepared to make the call and help her over the rainbow bridge if necessary.
It's a complicated situation but I do appreciate your help. I am running on very...
Sorry, mods can delete this thread. Not sure why I even posted here. Just desperate to not lose another one of my pets. I love them so much. We have tried so hard to save her. I know it's probably failure to thrive, but it isn't any less heartbreaking. I love her so much and there's nothing I...
The sour crop issue is not reoccurring, it's a recent development. We have been taking her to a vet to try and figure out what's been going on to no avail.
I'm about as prepared to put her down as I would be to put my own dog down- Which is to say not at all.
She's been very sick, multiple vet visits and still no idea what's wrong. She's also developed sour crop. She fell forward and seems to have aspirated, she's gurgling while breathing. Please help.
I know there is probably nothing we can do. I've tried calling emergency vets nearby and just...
Thank you all for the kind words!! They mean a lot to me.
I'm very happy to have Eepie. It's been so rewarding to see her flourish and enjoy life. I think she's helped me enjoy my life more, too, honestly.
This forum has been so welcoming, informative, and helpful. It has had a huge positive...
Of course!!❤️ If I can help at least one person and their chicken with what I've written I consider that a job well done.
Honestly, I'm lucky to have my little one, too! At first it was hard but it gets easier with time and she's quickly become a beloved member of our little family. She is a joy...
*🌸Figured I would update this thread in case anyone in the future finds themselves in a similar situation:
I took my little one, Eepie, to an avian vet recently. The conclusion was they have a congenital neurological issue. Whether its origin is in the brain or spine is not clear. It is not...
Figured I would update this thread in the event someone in a similar situation finds it one day.
I wound up taking my little one to an avian vet this past week. Conclusion was she has a congenital neurological issue going on. It's not spraddle leg, marek's, etc. The vet wasn't certain of the...
I am late to the party, but a place we can go specifically for help with discussing disabled chickens would be immensely helpful. Like OP, I've spent hours and hours every day trying to find any scraps of information I can.
While I understand why the decision to not have a specific subforum was...
My little one is named Eepy. Right now they're 2 weeks old and seem to have some kind of neurological issue that prevents them from being able to get up on their own, maintain balance, and walk. Even still they have a lot of energy and strength. They're very spunky! I have been doing chicky PT...
