So last August I lost my 45 hens to a flood when our home barn ect was under 7 feet of water I didn't have time to react we had to go to the roof of our 2 story home so this spring I got 3 silkie hens and a roo. Lol thay started laying in sept by November I am up to 15 silkies lol my dh told me...
I have 3 white silkies and a black show girl hen to day my show girl hatched a chick she is in with my other 2 hens and rooster it's been cool here in ky down in the 20 and 30s at night I have a small coop from tsc do I need a heat lamp to insure that the baby don't get cold

for pasty butt ..... go out in your yard pull up some grass with roots and dirt and all and it will clear it up with in 24 hours ... orderd 50 chicks for meyer hatchery and thay all ended up it it i called my grandpa and he told me what to do and it works
