The chicks were hatched on the 4th of July. I have bought 20% crumble for the chicks. and the mom is already going outside with her chicks. we have very rocky soil here and do you think that will be enough for the mom to have instead of shells?
What do you mean. Should I be feeding them something else as there main feed? They really only eat it when they are hungry I let them free range all over my property and give them left overs.
I put 12 eggs in my incubator. This was my first time incubating eggs, only 1 hatches but another make a crack but didn't make it. And since I didn't want that one to be alone I was looking and found 4 guineas that are only a week older. So I bought them and they look good so far.
So I have a broody hen and she has been broody for quite a while but I noticed eggs disappear from under her and I didn't know it it was a snake or a predator and saw this earlier. Is this a predator or the hen eating the eggs for some reason?
The other day a raccoon knawed a hole into the wall of my chicken shed and we patched it up. Yesterday I went back over there to check on them before going to bed and the racoons was in there again. Went and got a gun and went back over and couldn't find him but he was sitting in a laying box...
Good to know I'm going to be moving soon and we are going thinking about building a pond on our property and if we don't build it I am going to get turkeys because turkeys are always so cool.
