    grubs from the compost pile

    We have a pile of composting woodchips that we dig into and add to our garden. found some grubs and gave them to our 6 wk old chicks to see what they'd do ... what fun to watch the crazy game of Keep Away as they tried to find a corner to hide in and eat in peace - only to have another fast...

    Grit??

    I have 6 week old chicks and they are in a coop that has a dirt floor with pine shavings, should i buy grit, get river sand, or does the dirt have what they need for grit? They are pecking at the ground and appear to be "eating" the dirt.
