Can I find out if the soil in my run is safe?

I understand. I think I am going to take the route of my own blood test. If I show lead, then I may check my soil or get my birds blood checked, which is easy enough to do with a draw at the vet.

Can I find out if the soil in my run is safe?

Hi, I am chiming in here not because I feel this might be your problem, but because it may be my problem and I want to share. I have had 2 chickens die with cancer 3 weeks apart from each other. 1- lymphoma and leukemia, 2nd was different cancer, but I forget. One of the suggestions was to check...

Hen falling over! Lethargic and can’t keep balance

If her crop was not empty in the morning she may not be actually digesting any food she is eating. I would bring her inside where you can closely watch to see if she is pooping normal. Continue to offer feed and make sure she is eating. Does she have a flock? Any bullying? Has she been hiding...

    Pee pads!

Great news! Her first day outside, towards the end of the day, she had a normal poo, not watery. But it was tiny. She had coconut oil bits twice today and fermented feed twice and I let the all out to scrounge for a bit before sundown. Hopefully she is on the mend.

    Pee pads!

Thanks, they get fermented feed every day as well as a feeder that hangs all day with pellets. They all eat some of both throughout the day.

    Pee pads!

Thank you. The three have grit available all the time. Should i isolate her with a bowl of it to ensure she is eating it? They are all outside in their pen. Its 10*10, 6' tall with a roof.

    Pee pads!

Thank you! I may give her some molasses anyway since all she is passing is liquid! I'm so worried about her. :'( and they get a pro/acidifier in their water pretty frequently. Is there something better?

    Pee pads!

I swear these chickens are going to be the death of me!! One of my chickens was being crabby with the other 2, so i brought her in for 3 nights/days, during that time she ate pee pads! quite a bit too! While I was working. Lose stool, then she would scratch and pick at the wet portion of the pee...

    Special needs chicken - hernia

if that's the case, she has had it for 2 years. Is that possible? How do you catch something like that?

    Special needs chicken - hernia

yes, hers did start like that & they pecked it and she had a small boo boo. But, once that boo boo healed (she saw the vet, then I kept her inside to heal) and she has been fine since then. It's feathered over & she just has a misshapen lower area now. And, she receives an implant to no longer...

    Special needs chicken - hernia

nothing is out. She did have a boo boo when it first happened years ago, other hens pecked at it, but it healed & she has been pretty good since then. Other than it's obv that her stuff is all not in the space it should be when I fell underneath her. Should I explore maybe surgery?
