Thank you for the chart! My birds all have the proper shank color (which is slate and willow according to the American Silverudd's Blue Association), but in some of my birds the soles look closer to white then yellow. I've been looking for an answer to that for forever so thank you so much!
And...
I'm definitely going to be keeping an eye on this. I'm also working on improving my Silverudds Blue flock. I'm trying to decrease bird size and breed out some dusty tones some of my blue hens have. Silverudds quickly became my favorite breed after I got my first group. It's a shame Windy...
Thats awesome! I totally recommend Silverudd's Blue. Im also hoping to order from Alchemist soon in hopes of getting some splash and black hens. I only have one black and the rest are blue.
Her egg is the top left speckled and, the picture doesnt show it well, but her egg is vibant green. It...
I've looked at the Owlbeards as well and I sure hope their prices come down because boy they are beautiful birds, but I could never justify (to my husband) paying that much for chicks or hatching eggs 😂
I do usually send people off with a couple of extra free eggs, but I could mention it in the...
Hello all!
I wasn't sure where to post this. This probably more of a venting session than an actual question. I sell Silverudd's Blue, BCM, and Blue Copper Marans hatching eggs locally. I hope to get NPIP certified this year or next so I can begin shipping, but currently I only sell locally. I...
First batch hatched 2/4 (I'm a little late posting). This batch included: Silverudd's Blue, BCM, Blue Copper Marans, Fibro EE (hobby project), and F1 and F3 OE.

Alright, so here's what Ive determined. I happened to catch both the splash and blue hens in the nest boxes the day after my last post. I can confirm that they both lay a very dark egg. After paying close attention to the pattern I've discovered that if the one hen lays a dark egg and then...
I ended up deciding to not breed him and ended up selling him off. He would have made a nice roo, but I didnt want to have to worry about breeding out the recessive white down the road. I lucked out and found a really nice blue silverudds blue roo that has been an awesome flock protector and...
I love my silverudds blue chickens! They're my favorite overall breed. I also really enjoyed the deathlayer and EE hen I had.

My EE hen. She was my favorite all time chicken. She would sit on my lap and wait for treats at the...
Here's a picture of all of my marans eggs in the marans pen laid by day. I have 5.
The top three are all my BCM. The top egg was from my BCM hen. The two middle eggs were laid on the same day by the BCM pullets. The bottom two would be from the blue and splash pullets laid on the same day. This...
I have one hen that will lay two if she skips a day and they're always perfect eggs, but I agree, that it would be highly unlikely my marans is laying two eggs. One can hope, though. My plan is to try and catch her in the nest box, if not, then I'll just have to separate the splash and blue. I...
I will for sure! They're definitely fun. I free range mine every other day and its kinda hilariously funny how bad they are at it compared to my silverudds. They're a fun breed that I really enjoy. I'll post an update once I solve the mystery.
So interesting! Thank you for the info with your experience. I'm determined to figure out which one is responsible, I'm just reluctant to remove one from the marans flock, but I may need to. I can always use her to make splash olive eggers with my silverudds blue roo in the worst case scenario...
