    1st hatch-when to take chickens out

    They should be okay in there overnight. I leave mine in until their feathers are dry. Usually about 24 hours.

    The cuckoo maran chicks I looked up had yellow on their bellies. He didn't. He does have a single comb. Not sure if marans do?

    I got this roo as a chick from the feed store. I had thought he was a barred rock and now I'm not so sure. He's the darker one in the middle. He's looking so much darker than my other barred rock roo and he's got brown around his neck and sides. Any ideas what he might be?

    Wait 6 days to put eggs in bator?

    My first hatch was from eggs I bought on Ebay. They got held up in the mail and took 8 days to get here during the freezing cold weather last March. I did get two to hatch out of the 12. Good luck!

    should I use BOTH Hardware Cloth AND Chicken wire?

    We are building our run now too. We're going to use fencing with 2x2 inch squares for the 3-5 foot area of the run and half inch hardware cloth from the bottom up to 3 feet. For same reasons. Very expensive to do all of the run in the smaller gauge hardware cloth!

    This is my 2nd time trying to hatch. First time I had 12 and two hatched from shipped eggs. This time I have shipped eggs again but only 8. Did your two that hatched come out ok? Thanks for the good luck wishes!! I think I'm gonna need it!

    I need help on what to put on a box of eggs?

    Mine have come with "EGGS" clearly marked on all sides and have gotten here with minimal damage. One was also marked "DO NOT X-RAY". "Fragile means nothing to the PO!
