    Silverudd's Blue

Ahhh. I see. I was told that if a hen lays brown she has the brown/brown and therefore can not pass on the gene to make green or blue layers. I understood it that the blue/brown gene makes green. I have much more research to do! Lol.

    Silverudd's Blue

Thank you! That's great. Your birds are stunning! Apparently I have a dark blue lol so I can try breeding her to that. It's very hard in my part of Ontario to get any quality of first or second gen isbars. They have yet to start laying and I have my fingers crossed the eggs actually come out...

    Silverudd's Blue

Awesome chart. Thank you so much. What I'm wondering is if I have a splash that's not so "splash" will her splash offspring lack the colouring too? She's mostly white... lol.

    Silverudd's Blue

I recently acquired two breeding pairs of SB. I was wondering if the splash will develop more color as she ages or is this the extent of her markings ? She's approximately 4-5 months I think. Is it worthwhile to breed her ? Or should she be just a lovely laying hen for the family ?! Thanks...

    Canadians check in here....

Thanks. I have never lost chicks like this before. One or two. We have now lost 8 chicks and one bird (about 3 months old). We have raised them under very precautious conditions. Litter change daily. Medicated food. Clean water 3-4x a day. Heat lamps with digital thermometers I take to bed with...

    Help with Possibly vit deficiency

No fecal test. I told the vet about the blood and they gave me amprolium. I've spent hundreds (up to $1000) recently in testing and having to restart due to Mycoplasma in my birds so they are trying to help me save money. I didn't use medicated feed. I never have and this is the first time I've...

    Help with Possibly vit deficiency

Thank you so much for this. The vets gave me a portion of amprolium in a container and it is labelled how much to give but not the strength/dose they have diluted it. I am worried they gave me a dose that is too strong. I had 2 birds with def vitamin deficiencies and went downhill so quickly by...

    Help with Possibly vit deficiency

I had an outbreak of very bloody diarrhea in my chicks and started them on amprolium as the vet prescribed. One chicks toes all curled up and died despite my syringing poul vite. Another chick now has terrible wry neck symptoms. Looks like a bad case of huntingtons. Can anyone tell me if they...
