    New to turkey raising - mating question

    I found my tom sitting on some chicken eggs in the coop. He would not move till I got all the eggs out from under him. He is a Bronze turkey and a guard turkey. Also a pet. His name is Mr Hornswaggle aka Joe Namath lol. Do males do stuff like this? He is a year old now. Time for a Missus?

    Also I'm concerned for keeping them warm in the winter. What does everyone do for this? This last winter we got down to -6 below which we have never had. Luckily I had no chickens yet. So I need some education on this!

    I eventually will build them a bigger coop. I am putting a garden fence around the whole thing. I was told to leave poop and all in there about a year. I add new pine shavings in there once a month and toss it around.

    I built an add on for some young ones and it just has a dirt and grass floor. When they are old enough I will let my Rooster sleep in there. The rest of the coop has pine shavings. I'm going to try hemp soon.
