    Buff Orpingtons Hens not Laying

Hm, is it possible that they are laying in a hidden spot?

    Buff Orpingtons Hens not Laying

Did you raise them yourself or did you buy them as adults?

    Rooster cant stand up straight.

Can you send pics/video of what he is doing? Try adding vitamins to his water, the kind you can get from TSC for poultry, it might help boost his immune system. Has he been pooping ok?

Leghorns! Tell me what you know

My leghorn is the absolute best! She is my favorite, and by far has the most personality. My chickens are pets, and they free range all day, so I'm not sure how they would deal with coop confinement. Mine isn't flighty and probably the closest too a lap chicken, she is super smart and she also...

My Pullet Ate Too Much Grit- yes really!

Yes, while in the brooder they don't necessarily need it if the only thing they are ingesting is crumbles, but it is still good for them. I would just do the same thing by sprinkling it on top, not too much though.

    Mean Rooster at 11 weeks?

My rooster was a little rough with hens around that time as well. If he is hurting them then separate for a while. Unfortunately it takes practice for them to be gentle with hens. With time my rooster has become quite the gentleman which gives me hope for yours. You do have quite a few roosters...

    Eating too much?

Can you send pictures? If they are otherwise fine I wouldn't worry too much, especially if you are providing them with good food and grit.

Unfortunately I don't think you will be able to safely add new birds.

Lows in the 30s and my chicks

I would really make sure you lock up tight! We have a blanket hanging from the ceiling, and believe it or not it is 10-15 degrees warmer in the coop. You could also try the deep litter method for bedding. Overall it comes down to good insulation. Your chicks are a bit young, is there any way you...

    Most disease resistant breeds

So once a flock has Mareks they are forever carriers. Any new birds introduced will also contract the virus. Unfortunately adding new birds isn't a great idea. Are you positive it was Mareks? Chickens can be pricey, especially when they are freeloading! So I do understand your desire for new birds.

My Pullet Ate Too Much Grit- yes really!

For grit I usually just sprinkle some on top of their food in the morning so I know that they are getting a little bit. In the spring and summer they should be fine to get grit on their own if they are free ranged regularly. As for reintroducing her I would chose a hen you know to be not a...

    Curious of any comments

They are still very young, I couldn't even tell with my leghorn at that point. If you hatched them yourself, the odds are pretty 50/50, we will be able to tell soon enough though!

    Bad Luck With Our Girls

I'm so sorry, that really sucks. I would keep a close eye on them. Is it possible their food went bad, or they had contact with wild birds? Both can cause illness. I would see if you can get immune system boosting supplements from TSC but my chickens haven't been sick so I'm not very experienced...

3 month old silkie chicken with sudden blindness

I'm a blind chicken owner, and don't worry, if it is permanent they can totally lead a normal life. Can you send us some pictures?

    Curious of any comments

Silikes are notoriously tricky to sex, and i've never had any, how old are they exactly? Where did you get them?
