    the base heaters work just fine with a plastic bucket. I've been using one on a heated base all winter and no problem.

    I have just installed horizontal nipples in a 32 gal. plastic trashcan. I have it installed outside and I intend to use a stock tank heater in it. As far as the nipples go I just wrapped the threads with Teflon thread tape. Two weeks no leaks. Hope this helps

    I have 10 RIR, 4 mature layers that are coming out of molt, and 6 pullets that I purchased as day old chicks I get 2XL eggs a day. my problem is I also get an egg that is about the size of a pheasant egg. we always had chickens when I was a kid, I have never heard of a 9 week old chicken...
