    For my layer hens I prefer large rooster like black jersey giant for protecting. I have luck with black jersey giants Roos. They battled with fox twice and won. I use bantams for breeding and show. I had a sebright bantam roo that protect a hens from fisher cat and he did survived.

    Black Jersey Giant rooster crowing?

    to update about this rooster.. He passed away one and half years ago. from fighting with the fox twice. I have new 2 Giant roosters. they are 4 month old. and one fought fox few night ago. he won the battle. He saved my beautiful Australorp cockerel.

    if any of them have REALLY BLACK legs, its jersey giant. if its yellow/blackish its australorp. I have a pictures of both them. I also own a JG and Austlorp roosters. And Jersey giant is so much BIG than Australorp.JG are slow mature.

    Thats was interesting. Because i have two golden comets with 2 MASSIVE Light bramha roosters who mates them alot and im planning to hatch out some of their babies to see what the chicks look like.. After i hatch their babies, ill be breed them to Jersy giant after. going to be very interesting.

    Nankins

    I have two nankin, they are a pair.. I live in Maine, wher there a long winter climate. I had to watch carefully to their combs to make sure there no frostbite. And put them in coop with silkies, standards, and other chickens that are cold hardy to keep them warm.
