    Yeah, I think that there are a lot more critters out there that I just have not seen yet - have only been here a couple months. I have seen the bear walk through the yard and he leaves his little... I mean big gifts behind!

    Thank you all. The breeds I am leaning towards are Wyandottes, Cochin, Orpington, Barred Rock, Brahma and Bantam (spelling?). I plan on having just hens and no roosters and that is why I plan on going with chicks and not eggs to hatch. So far the only wildlife I have seen in the area are deer...

    Hi, I am from New Jersey also - Warren county. It would be great if I could get my chicks from the area when I am ready. Glad to see there are other chicken lovers in NJ. Look forward to finding out helpful tips for the area. Worried about the cold and we do have black bears in the area.
