Hi All,
I'm new to Showgirls and had a beautiful pair of Blacks, but lost the cock-bird today. Do any of you have a replacement I could purchase? I live in the Texas panhandle so would need him shipped here. I could also cross in a black melanized NN cock if you have one of those.
Thanks...

Cockerel # 4 is by far you best bird. He's the most correct in comb points, beak length, and type. Would like to see his eye a little redder and wings tucked up more. If he's a dark blue mottled then you won't need cockerel #3 to keep the blue mottleds going. I would place them 4, 3, 1, 2. The...
It's okay to disagree with me and you are correct if you start the cross with the ideal buff Columbian male crossed on regular Columbian female. You will get buff Columbian pullets and junk cockerels that are heterozygous Ss. I should have stated that it is one of these heterozygous Ss junk...
Hi CluckyChick,
This was probably a cross between a Buff Columbian male & Regular Columbian female. To keep the pattern use a Buff Columbian male. If you can find one, use a buff male that has white in his underfluff.
Hope this helps. Russell
Hi Karen,
I had to use a Silver Laced Wyandotte a couple years back on SL cochin hens due to a raccoon killing my SL cochin cock. It has been terrible getting the foot feathering back. I agree with Dave's advice.
Also, several people have made some nice Blue Buff Columbians that I've seen...
Hi Black Cochin Bantams,
Take the middle Red Blue Columbian male and breed him to a good Golden Laced hen. You'll be well on your way to making Blue Laced Red cochins. From their chicks pick a Blue male that has the best breast lacing to breed back to the original Golden Laced hen...
Howdy All,
I joined the BYC Forum to find new friends in poultry and expand my understanding of genetics. I'm interested in Cochins and more recently Naked Necks. Hope you all have a great chicken day.
