Northeastern Poultry Congress - Springfield, Mass - Jan 14-15, 2012

Hello everybody, I am going to be at the show in hopes of finding a new BLRW ROOSTER. My beautiful boy was recently killed and his girls are all alone. I need a really good one, and hope someone will have an extra. A younger boy would be better, as he has to blend in with the other older...

    What Predator killed my flock?

Quote: This is classic dog behavior! I have watched dogs climb up and over fencing, so unless you have a roof on your coop, it could easily have been a dog. Also, Coyotes and fox dont kill for fun, they would have taken the birds away and eaten what they wanted. Dogs think they are...

Why won't they sleep IN the coop?

Sounds to me like something scared them, and they dont feel secure inside the coop anymore. Have you had some traumatic event? Predator, Rats?

We've done a scary thing. Pics too.

I wonder why you havent tried bait stations? Use the inexpensive blocks of poison, in a container that the cats cant get into, place it where you know the rodents travel, they will eat in the station and take it back to the colony, and in 2 weeks everybody is dead for about $10.00 in...

My Roo and then other girls attacked my poor BO hen :( Wtd?

I think you will find that having more hens to one rooster will also help. One rooster to 6 hens is apparently not enough for your boy. Studies have shown that one healthy young rooster can keep the fertility up for 25 hens!! Documented in yellow paperback 'Guide to better Hatching" 25 hens...

CHICKEN SWAPS OF NH SWAP LISTINGS

Also, Please remember that Mareks Vaccines are not 100% guaranteed, The company that makes it states it is 90% effective. Good Luck with your bird, if he survives the first attack, he/she can live a productive life, but will always be wobbly, and a risk to your other unvaccinated chicks. Amanda

    Chicken with Bubble eyes

Bubbly eyes is cause by an upper respiratory issue, pushing fluids into those passages is not a good idea (sorry) The air is cause by block sinus, so more fluid probably wouldnt feel good. Try to do a little diagnostic work to help us narrow down the problem. Is the bird weasing and...
