Hi all,
I wondered if any of you knew what the results would look like? I have a beautiful large Buff Orpington Roo and dark (mostly black or lavender) brahma hens. Six chicks have hatched, but i wondered if anyone else has crossed these and what they might look like when they grow? They are...
i have just posted about number 6 who hatched today and has been ousted from thinnest. two others hatched strong and healthy at the weekend taking the total so far to 5 strong babies at that point - 3 weeks later than number 1... we still have another two live eggs under her and she is sitting...
i tried with the computer and it just looks like a clump at the minute. will find a camera in the morning if it is still alive. It seems quite weak, but fingers crossed things go well tonight.
Hi all,
Unbeknown to me, we had a broody hen (year old) which my sons left some eggs under over a period of a week or so... When i realised, i made sure that no more went under - we had about 14. Chick 1 hatched 3 weeks ago and we have had a few eggs kicked out and broken due to being off...
:) I understand your pain - thing about broody hens is that not all of the eggs are going to hatch at the same time... I had a chick hatch last saturday and another - same batch this weekend... pain in the neck. I too am a little concerned - have put my incy on this evening where i might pop...

Hi all, I have just realised that my hen who has just hatched five babies has a bad dose of the scale leg mite - what would the best suggestion be for her and the chicks please? Thank you
:s ok, yes, i do understand that i shouldn't have added the extra eggs - i was thinking that she has sat so patiently and as it is her first time, i was trying to help. Probably being a bit selfish too - as i would quite like little chicks. Thank you for your feedback, i will take it on board :)
hi all,
my broody orpington has been sitting on eggs for nearly three weeks. i have been expecting chicks any day. Today i have come home to find a baby hatched, very little shell left, baby is cold and dead. Eyes are closed, but fully formed. I have quite a few eggs still under her. Should...
Hi Miss Lydia
Thank you, will see how it goes. I am not sure how it compares in terms of price, but will have a look - it was the only bedding the local shop had when i bought it.
