I had five just like this and rehomed the roos. I couldn't tell until about 3 months. My roos were always sparring and attempted to crow. They also had more red on their faces. The roos got a larger "crown" in the top of their beaks. I have two hens left. My only two chickens, as I love in town...
Thank you for the info. The hatchery where I purchased them did offer vaccinated chicks but I didn't think they needed it. After watching them grow, I started to wonder if I made the right decision.
I have chicks about four weeks old and wondered the same thing. They don't quite have all their feathers though. I got a pre-made coop at Tractor Supply. The babies dont know to go up the ladder to the nesting box so I gotta keep them in at night. Anything over 60° and sunny though, I put them...
Three out of the five babies are sparring! Do girls do that? I've taken several suggestions on sexing them to no avail. I guess I just have to wait a couple months.
I bought 5 chicks about 4 weeks ago. How do I know the boys from the girls? At what age is their gender apparent? I'm obviously new to raising chickens. Also, when can I stop using the heat lamp and put them outside in their coop?
