i'm first time chicken owner, and i'm trying to absorb all the info! my babies have a ramp, a roosting bar, and a little stool thing in their brooder, but I have noticed some feather pecking. thanks for the tips!
We just got 6 chicks and it freaked me out when they first sunbathed. I looked it up on Google and it basically said they were just enjoying the sun! So cute, once you know they're not hurt
yeah. we just got sucked into the chicken world, and it's already way more pricey than we first thought. our 3 Barred Rock chicks and 3 Golden Sex Link chicks are quite the handful, but the make up for it in cuteness. we definitely decided to get chicks for cheaper eggs, but so far all we've...
How'd you end up with five cockerels in the first place? I definitely don't want to fall into the I-have-a-ton-of-roosters-and-I-don't-know-which-ones-to-keep pit!
yeah. if i end up with a roo(we just got 6 chicks) what should I do? If I do end up with a roo, should I just separate him from the flock and give him a stuffed animal?
is there a certain age you can be 100 percent sure you have a rooster? I just got 6 chicks and we suspect 2 of them are roosters.
I'll happily accept any advice on taming your rooster before it gets big and aggressive!
I just got 6 chicks; 3 Barred Rocks and 3 Golden Sex Links. We suspected 2 of the Goldie's are roosters. I have young kids. The chicks are only 3-4 weeks old now. Is there any way to tame the roos' before they go out to the coop?
So what should I use? My chicks are growing their feathers, making it harder for me to tell between chicks. Could I just make a sort of anklet-bracelet thing by braiding pieces of kitchen twine?
Also, where's a good spot to put a dot of Sharpie. On the leg?
