    i'm first time chicken owner, and i'm trying to absorb all the info! my babies have a ramp, a roosting bar, and a little stool thing in their brooder, but I have noticed some feather pecking. thanks for the tips!

    How'd you end up with five cockerels in the first place? I definitely don't want to fall into the I-have-a-ton-of-roosters-and-I-don't-know-which-ones-to-keep pit!

    Should I get hens for my rooster?

    yeah. if i end up with a roo(we just got 6 chicks) what should I do? If I do end up with a roo, should I just separate him from the flock and give him a stuffed animal?

    is there a certain age you can be 100 percent sure you have a rooster? I just got 6 chicks and we suspect 2 of them are roosters. I'll happily accept any advice on taming your rooster before it gets big and aggressive!

    I just got 6 chicks; 3 Barred Rocks and 3 Golden Sex Links. We suspected 2 of the Goldie's are roosters. I have young kids. The chicks are only 3-4 weeks old now. Is there any way to tame the roos' before they go out to the coop?

    So what should I use? My chicks are growing their feathers, making it harder for me to tell between chicks. Could I just make a sort of anklet-bracelet thing by braiding pieces of kitchen twine? Also, where's a good spot to put a dot of Sharpie. On the leg?
