Pip but no zip? (HELP WANTED!!)

Unfortunate update, sadly both the chicks passed away. Not sure what went wrong, they both seemed fine, exactly like the other two. I think they must have had some developmental issue or something. I’ll be ordering some silkies from a hatchery now😅

    TSC bantam bin (again)

I stopped by TSC Again and couldn’t resist taking home some new bantams, anyone have any ideas of what breeds these 4 might be? 1.) 2.) 3.) 4.) Pretty sure 3 & 4 are the same breed, and maybe 1 & 2 are as well? Would love to hear anyone’s opinions regardless :D

Pip but no zip? (HELP WANTED!!)

Two more hatched after I assisted them and they seem to be okay! I think they are the only two that will hatch

Completely bald 6 week old chick

I don’t think it’s a bullying issue. Could it be something with vitamins or something of the sort? That’s a bizarre story! Good to know she grew all her feathers back though:D

    Turkey Vultures stalking chicks??

I’ve had a vulture around my chickens before, on the ground near their run, so it’s defiantly a possibility. Otherwise crows/ravens have been seen near my coop before too. But I do know vultures will try to attack chicks/chickens

Pip but no zip? (HELP WANTED!!)

The chick I assisted wasn’t able to hatch on its own so I had to assist more, and it’s out now. It’s looking weak so I’m not too hopeful. Is there anything else I can do? I’m leaving it in the brooder currently because it seems too weak to move, but it’s chirping and trying to move around.

when should you move a chick from the incubator into the brooder? I have heard you should wait 24 hours or until it’s dry, but should you move them sooner?

Oh, I did that for these. I only moved the one that was all dried out though. It was warm in the brooder but was moving it the wrong choice? I am wondering if it might have gotten lonely alone and maybe I should have left them together. But considering both the one in the brooder and incubator...

Thank you, I hope so too. I have always wanted silkies since my last ones passed away.

Pip but no zip? (HELP WANTED!!)

It should be fine, the temp is 99.5 and humidity is around 72%. They both were born with curled toes so maybe that had something to do with it? I don’t have much experience with that though. Maybe something with the parents? I got the eggs from a friend.

Pip but no zip? (HELP WANTED!!)

I just went to check on the two chicks that had already hatched, and both of them are dead. What could have happened??? I’m so sad, they seemed perfectly fine 30 minutes ago! They are already stiff and everything. Is there an explanation for this?
