UrbanFarmOC: thanks, I love the advice! I've been looking into the Easter Egger, Delaware, Plymouth Rock, and the Australorp. Not only do I need them somewhat quiet, I need to make sure they will handle my 3 year old.
These seem to meet the criteria. I'm excited to see their personalities once...
Islandgirl82: they can't see it unless they pop their head over the fence. I have a hill then their fence to their yard, I was thinking of either nailing a form of plastic to cover half the fence from the ground up. Or figuring a way to keep the hens away from the fence period. I'm gonna let...
Aart: no, not yet lol. I'm not sure if they just didn't want to sign the form period just to show they did not approve. I have not told them yet that we are still going to do it. I wanted to wait for the approval first so they could not fight it right away, then we will slowly start our chicken...

I did have another neighbor sign, im just hoping they count that one. We will find out tomorrow, finges crossed. Here's another question, are they noisey at night or just in the day?
Ok so I live in Orange County California, in a suburban housing area that does allow chickens. I also live with a HOA, which makes me have to ask my neighbors for permission with practically everything. My husband and I have waited almost a year since we got the chicken itch, to finally start...
