I am thinking of using that clear plastic corrugated material as a roof on my run to allow for sun to come through but keep snow out. I may need to do the same maybe half way up the sides of the run.
How does everyone winterize their coops/runs? My coops are small and the run is not covered....maybe I should cover it before the snow comes? I have 5 chickens who sleep on one side and 4 on the other. The nights have already dipped into the 30’s for us 😫.
Also, do your chickens go out/free...
So we hatched some eggs and ended up with 2 roosters. One is very loud and crows all day long. Is the crow collar safe and effective? We would rather not give up our crazy but sweet rooster but when he is this loud and annoying the neighbors the free eggs aren’t enough to keep them happy...
I don’t think so....
Ok, I just thought it was weird that he is going after their necks and nowhere near being on top of them...and he doesn’t let go 😫
I have an 11-week old Easter egger rooster that keeps showing aggression towards the ladies. Some are 5 weeks older then him, others he hatched along with. He will bite and hold onto their necks. Why is he doing this? I am trying to re-home him but not having much luck (he is the 2nd rooster in...
I, unfortunately, have 2 too many roosters in my flock. I do not have the space to add hens and my neighbors can probably only take so much crowing :-) I was hoping I would end up with a better ratio but it is what it is and I need to find the roosters new homes. The only farm I found so far...
I'd like some help with the deep litter method for my run as well. We live in NY (about an hour north of the city). The ground is very hard (rocks of every size imaginable in, on and under) and almost a clay, no issue with puddles or mud. I have added some dried leaves, grass clippings and some...
I just read somewhere that chickens should have access to clean water to clean their beaks (help to avoid respiratory problems)? Is this true and what is the best way to provide clean water that they can dip their beaks in?
