Sorry for your loss.
When we first moved to our house, people down the road had chickens killed in their hen house. Reports that people all over our street were experiencing the same, before we got our chicks we had tea with them so we could find out more. Turns out they went into their hen...
Okay so I just re checked on her in her little box. She's a little cold, but still active and she's nice and warm under where she's nested in her box.
There's a bit of blood, but its not 'running', and her bottom feathers are a bit wet. Her prolapse is no longer poking out, and I hope she'll be...
Wow!
UPDATE:
I took ruby into our bathroom (its outside, don't worry, and its just the loo and an old sink so we won't use it for ourselves), which mainly has things like horse worming treatment, dog shampoo, etc.
I filled up the sink with water, not for ruby, and held her upside down...
Thank you. Except I think they're inside her, and have crawled in her bum the same way the prolapse came out. It's all brown and hard to tell whats what. And whenever I attempt to get them off, she tries to get away, so do I have to pull the prolapse a bit out the get all the maggots off? I'm so...
Is anyone reading this? I know all my posts may seem too hasty, but there are maggots all over her, and it looks like a small prolapse! How can I get it back in with MAGGOTS on it! This site is supposed to help me, but I'm just too worried and anxious to wait for hours.
Please, please help! My mum is getting frustrated and is making stupid decisions. I can't really stop her if she gets an insane idea in her head, and this is so awful! I really do need help!
Our other friends who have chickens suggested spraying her with bug spray that kills maggots. I said no until I found out, because that would poison her if she was having a prolapse right?
I'm afraid that if I touch her bum, and it IS intestine, I will kill her and it'll be even worse. I know you can't 'push it back in' and we live out in the middle of no where, so we have no vets for, well, atleast 2 the 3 hours, and none of them deal with chickens.
I'm so worrying, how long...
I'm a first time chicken owner, and recently my hen, Ruby, was found looking worse for wear after my neighbors little Chihuahua thing made a kerfuffle with our ponies. I reckon she got stepped on, Ruby, in the process.
My mum isn't helping at all, and refuses to take any notice so I have to do...
