SnuggleSafe disc is a hard plastic disc filled with some kind of gel that you heat up in your microwave for 5-6 minutes and it heats up. The heat lasts about 6 hours or so outside and longer if it is used inside. Kind of like a fancy hot water bottle Can get it through Amazon and possibly at...
I am in the Tacoma area, and put my two 6 week old chicks out in their mini coop with a Snuggle Safe disc at night in case they got chilly, and they are doing fine:)
She is a cutie! They are cool little guys for sure:) I just pick out a few of the tiniest meal worms for the babies at first, but they like the freeze dried ones too .I fill a clean kitty litter pan with dusty dirt from my greenhouse and they pick through that a lot...probably some tiny bugs and...
Hi Amelia!
I also have a leopard gecko, and actually farm my own mealworms. MUCH cheaper than buying at the pet store!
At two weeks old, I think the large mealworms would be way too big for them. If you can get any of the tiny mealworms then 2 or 3 each would probably be ok. I personally wait...
Well shoot! Wish I would have known this was coming up and I would have taken pics of my two 4 week old chicks in the puppy pen! Even though they had a large dish of fine dirt and big clumps of sod to dust bathe in, they decided to scratch through the shavings and puppy pads to take a dust bath...
Just named our Buff Orp chicks Biscuit and Honey, due to their lovely blond feathers! We also have Gracie, Emily and Abigail that are EE's, and Ruby is our orange/red hen:)
Lows around 38-40 at night, but they hadn't been without heat for very long inside. I am in western Washington state, and its still chilly, wet and windy . If there were more chicks in there they probably would have been fine, but just the two of them I felt a little "extra" would help. Must be...
Had a little problem a couple of weeks ago. Kids and grands were coming up for a few days, and my set up here was a playpen in the hall and a puppy pen in the living room for my two 5 1/2 week old Buff Orps. They HAD to go out to their grow out condo coop under our covered patio! Didn't want to...
I've had really good luck with puppy pads down first, then a layer of paper towels. Makes for easy clean up without replacing the pads all the time. After about the first week or so then shavings replace the paper towel.
Well... in the pacific NW those are pretty harmless lawn mushrooms. My Pugs gobble those up with no problem... tho I still pick them out and toss em. Last summer I went to pull out the ONE different looking shroom... but my littlest pug snatched it away and ate it... then vomited most of it up...
Introducing our two pullets to the rest of the flock (4) took quite awhile! From the bedroom in Feb, to the playpen in the hall, to the greenhouse with access to a small outdoor pen.. our other girls wanted nothing to do with them! It was a slow steady process, but they are finally in the coop...
I wondered the same thing... and gave them the choice after a couple of weeks, and no difference.. I worried too, but it all seems to work out ok. My chicks are now 5 weeks, and the poo changes without rhyme or reason! So does my hens outside, depending on what they are foraging on. But when I...
