I've got six new little ones, I plan on raising them exactly like this! They're about a week old right now. Whenever I put my hands in their cardboard box, they jump on up and just sit there. They sometimes even fall asleep! Great job!

Can you help me figure out what breeds my chicks are?

I bought pullets that weren't separated by breed. If anyone has any idea what breeds my chicks might be, I'd appreciate it. Thanks! Chickies24

    Black Spots on Combs

Hi, two of my hens have odd black spots on their combs. I'm wondering if they're just scabs from fights with the other hens, or from getting them caught on the chicken wire or something. They're about six and a half months old if that helps. Here is a picture of the two that have them...

Wow! That's how my eight were when they were little. Now they're real close to laying. But they still let me pick them up- most of them anyways. Haha! Love the article, great job!

Thanks so much for the advice! I can't wait to let my girls eat so many new things they will probably love! I give them cabbage and the greens of beets and watermelon already and they love it so they'll most likely love these other things too!
