Out of 12 eggs, I had 10 hatch! One was a dud, and one looked like it stopped developing pretty early on. I had to assist the last chick, creating an external pip, and she hatched! I wound up with 8 girls and 2 boys.
I had a chick that pipped internally and couldn't break the shell. She was trying for hours and each time I candled, she was moving less and less. I finally worked up the courage to break the shell just as described here. I cleared a space to her beak, being careful to break only the outer...
We lost power the other night for 3 hours! I took a hot water bottle and put it in the incubator, and covered it with towels. Temp briefly fell to 87F, then went to 95F and remained pretty steady. Today, 3 eggs have pipped! So, that seemed to work. Good luck!

I have 8 hens, different ages and breeds. One of my ISA Browns laid a fairy egg about 2 weeks ago and hasn't laid since. The other hens are all laying. This one laid all winter. There is no sign of illness of discomfort. He comb is bright and she looks and acts normal. She is not the rooster's...
Hi! I know there are tons of questions about incubators. I have it narrowed down to these 2. Anyone who has actual experience ... could you weigh in, please? I want to be able to hatch more than 7, or I'd go with the Brinsea Mini. Thanks in advance!
Setting a dozen Crested Cream Legbars today. A friend is incubating them for me and this was the day we could meet to do the egg hand-off. Keeping fingers crossed. My roo, Cluck Norris, has been very busy servicing his ladies ;)
Beautiful setup and thanks for the ideas! This is actually what I had in mind - a large indoor area for them for winter/bad weather. The pic of the barn that I showed is only about a third of it. The rest had a wood floor, and there is a second floor. With it being old and a bit drafty, it...
