    Dutch Hookbill colors...?

I see differing opinions about Dutch Hookbill colors. Some sources say all colors are extinct except for dusky, white and bibbed. Others mention lots of other colors. What is the scoop? Also, Question about dusky Hookbills: Our surprise hookbill (?) that just hatched along with our expected...

Finally, two ducklings hatch instead of one.

Question about dusky hookbills: Our hookbill that just hatched is very dark colored and has jet black feet. It has a bit lighter belly, but still dark. He is basically black with a bit of an olive sheen, and totally black feet. What color can we expect? Do the feet change color? All the duskies...

Finally, two ducklings hatch instead of one.

In my brief research, it seems that the ones with more pronounced curves in their bills are actually less fertile. Some kind of negative gene thing.

    Dutch Hookbill ducks

To be clear, my duck is newly hatched, out of an egg that was supposed to be a Welsh Harlequin. All the others were. Then this little black duck popped out. :0

    Dutch Hookbill ducks

Do any of your hookbills have totally black feet? Or did they at hatching? I have one mystery duck that I have been told is a hookbill, and it has totally black feet. It is mostly black with a slight olive sheen, and a slightly lighter belly. No bib. I thought the dusky color has yellow feet...

Chuck duck eggs if no veins visible day 7?

We ordered a dozen eggs by mail. Two cracked in transit, we ate them. I candled them on day 6, only one showed growth. I waited another couple of days, candled them again. Same egg was developing, the rest looked totally unfertilized. I cracked one into a bowl, it was perfectly fine for eating...

Welsh Harlequin Raspy Voice Female; 4 Weeks old

How did it turn out? 4 weeks is generally too soon for the voice change.

    Welsh Harlequin Sex?

Some have a bit of mixed genetics these days. That duck looks like a mix. By that age, the bills should both be dark, with the male getting a lighter, greenish bill eventually. The one in the front looks like a normal female. I see the date, did they turn out both females?

    Interesting Welsh Harlequin bill color

Sometimes WH breeders have not been careful to keep the breed pure. I had one with a yellow, spotted bill and light feet. Not breed standard but she was sweet. Yours looks like a cross with a white duck.

Welch Harlequin- First Duck Hatch- Nuture Right 360

What was your hatch rate for the WH eggs in this comment? How many eggs do your WH ducks lay? I am looking for good layers, used to be WH's were listed as some of the best. What about yours?

Four pips so far!!! Two of the pipped eggs never moved (that I saw) before today, so I guess that answers my question! Tomorrow is day 21

Hi! New here. I have had poultry most of my life, and that of our kids. There is nothing that teaches dependability like animals who depend on you.

An off-brand Chinese model my husband gave me off Amazon. Don't ask me to write the trail of consonants that company chose for its brand name!!! Someday I want one made in America. Sigh. Love hubs. :) The machine seems very responsive and quick to stabilize after opening it. It automatically...
