So, I had a bad experience at the farm.. Despite the email telling me that I could exchange the cockerel, they tell me it's too young to know yet and treated me like I know nothing! I felt like absolute crap because of them and left in tears. They lied to me and told me that they sold all their...
Ok Thankyou both so much for your info, I know it can be frustrating with such a new chick owner.
I'm thinking I'll take them both back, the others wattle is the reddest of them all.
Do you think the constant change of chicks will affect my lone pullet? She had two brothers that got taken away...
Ok I'll do that... So I'll keep the other production red?
I'll look for a pullet that looks like my lohmann brown girl and make sure she has a tiny comb and little wattle. How quick do pullets combs grow in a few weeks? I assume not as big as my cockerel.
Thank you so much for the info! This is my first time with chicks and I've fallen absolutely in love with them but seems I didn't do my research enough.
So, do I take suspect cockerel back or wait and see? They had brown/white chicks and all brown chicks at the farm but called the brown/white...
oh god, ok... whats your opinion on the other chick? She has black on her wing feathers too. If you are certain they are cockerels ill be taking them back tomorrow!
This is my lohmann Brown chick, is this what the ISA Browns will look like at this age too?
No, I didn't get them from a feed store I got them from a farm. I'll call them today to check with them...and ask if I can change the suspect cockerel.
I thought red sex links were white. My bad.
I'm sorry, I'm new to this whole chick thing. I first got the lohmann Browns from my child's kinder and had no idea they were sex link. Then I got these and were told they are ISA Browns and they are sexed as day olds and is 95% accurate.
So you think they are both cockerels??
I would love opinions on the gender of my new ISA Brown chicks, they are around 6-7 weeks old.
They have just replaced my lohmann brown cockerels. One seems to have a larger comb & wattle than the other, is that normal? Or have I seriously lucked out again and got a boy?
Hi there!
I have 6 week old girl, she had two brothers who recently got taken to a farm. I got two 7 week old girls yesterday from the farm to replace them. They are all getting on fine but this morning I noticed a few poops had red in them.
Here are the photos... I'm worried...
can i bring this thread back to life? :)
i have three 5 week old chicks and am realising I have 2 roosters and 1 hen. the roosters will be rehomed in the next few weeks so ill have a lonely hen..
Is it easier with one hen? do i get some hens the same age or 1 week olds to hand raise?
