My parents are ready to spend money on them and are willing to take care of them, but I said later on in the post that there are lots of family members in that country and they're willing to help take care of them (they live there). My mom says we'll just have to enjoy the chicks while we're...
She actually offered to get me a bird instead of a chick, but apparently they're harder to deal with. I'll take up on her offer and see how it goes. Maybe I get attached to them like how I got attached to chicks! In the beginning, before I got my chicks, I decided to carry them to see how it...
Who knows, maybe if in the future I have enough money to buy a house with a big space and no neighbors with yards we have to share, I'll have some chickens. It takes lots of patience, and I fear losing interest in chickens in the future.
My mom would give me chicks, she's all for it, but the problem is space and neighbors. But in another country (that we visit every year, and many family members live there) we have a large space where we plan to build a cabin AND have chicks. There are no neighbors, lots of space, and when we...
I know they have all their right to have their yard chicken-free, that's why I want to buy (or maybe build) a coop and run. It bothers everyone, and they shouldn't have to be dealing with my pets.
No, they didn't have a coop, but we did make a space for them with lots of joined baskets (I was still inexperienced back then, this was like way back at the beginning). I did realize that we needed a coop and a run, but my parents wanted them to be loose. I didn't like that idea, but my parents...
Yeah, I do believe there's chicken predators. I'm pretty sure that at least one animal noticed the chickens and that they captured its attention. There's a coincidence, right after the chicks disappeared, guess what showed up? A whole family of rats and one mouse. And not in any neighbors yard...
Actually, lots and I mean lots of my neighbors weren't really happy with the idea of me having chicks as pets. That's why I thought that it could be a "predator that walks with 2 legs and has names like John and Mary". I could tell that they didn't want them around (at least in THEIR yard), but...
3 at first, then 2.
The first time they were 3 days old (yeah, so small, I was so sad). The second time they were 3-4 months old.
They did not sneak through a fence when they used to escape, they went to the end of my row of houses (including the yards), and that would take them outside...
The state I live in may have, but farther north. I haven't seen eagles nor hawks in my city, at least. As I said before, it could either be the plenty of birds that we DO have, or it could've been a dog or cat (they sometimes do get loose)
⬆️ This is the first picture of my backyard (so someone could tell me if it's enough space to have chicks) ⬆️This is the second picture of my backyard.⬆️This is a picture of the big area next to my house (it's much wider and longer when you go farther into it, but this was the only picture I...
There are dogs, but they aren't loose around. There are also cats. But there aren't birds of prey nor weasels, raccoons, or opossums. I'm more leaning to someone taking them, though. It feels (to me) more likely like it was that.
