UPDATE: The infrared heater I’m using is made for chicks. It’s not killing them.
The chicks stopped dying after I gave them a three day dosage of Corid, directly in their mouths. I even added two more chicks that hatched last week and they are fine.
The chicks are now in my barn coop stall and...
So this morning’s sick one died this morning, and the gray one is clearly affected by this.
She drank when i dipped her beak and pecked at some food, but is still very weak. I hope she miraculously recovers. I’m not sure how to get her to eat/drink more.
The heater is set unevenly, so there is a temperature gradient.
The chicks were sleeping partially out of the heater, so i raised the lowest side to make it higher. It was 76 here yesterday, maybe 55 at night.
How much Corid do I give individually to the sick chicks?
Their water has netri-drench for 3 days now.
Yes to chick crumbles, not grit.
Reading other threads K need to get some vitamins, too.
Does Cocci come from hatcheries?
I put Terramycin in when her eyes are shut.
Another dead chick this morning. That’s 6/22 dead chicks. My 6 week live chick rate, before this was 24/24, or 100% alive. Sigh, this sucks. I probably have all roosters with this luck. Humph.
Yes, both eyes were stuck shut tonight. They were OK this morning, though.
Sticky with goop tonight. Although yesterday I didn’t have to clean them, I put drops in on Saturday.
I lost 5 chicks total from this shipment. 2 DOA, 1 very weak on arrival then two sick ones that eventually died.
I gave the closed eye chick more eye drops today.
