Oh yay!!! That is fantastic news! Thank you so much!!! I never knew I could love these birds so much - I would/will be so sad if any of them turn out to be roos and I couldn't keep them - Thank you for your help!!! :-D
Hi all -
Thanks to tips from all of these boards I am fairly confident in the gender of all of my ladies - except my EE... I keep going back and forth on if "Jasmine" might be "Jazz"... She is my alpha and loves to jump ontop of the rest of the flock and is very skittish so it was difficult to...
Thanks! I have been using pine in the brooder but I am debating between it and sand for the actual coop. I am excited to glean info from everyone on these forums :-)
Just wanted to say "hi" and join this thread :-) I am new to chicken life and to this forum... and loving it so far! We are in Bend, Oregon. Out of curiosity, what type of bedding material do the rest of you pacific NWers use in your coop? We are just finishing up our coop getting ready to take...
Update: I am still assuming pullet for Yoshi until I hear a crow... I am just so attached to these little birds and am feeling so impatient as I don't want to have to even think about parting with any of them!! Here are some updated pics of Yoshi - 5.5 weeks old... "she" made a very odd sound...
In case anyone was wondering... the shoes did not work for Jasmine. She let me put them on and kept them on fine but after a few days there was still no change. I think 4.5 weeks might have just been too old for her specific case. She has very thick feet.
Ok... I gave it my best go... I tried to get them in the right position as much as I could without hurting her. I was surprised she really didn't seem to notice me bending her toes... Anyway, we shall see how long it lasts... she is already pecking at the shoes and I couldn't get her to hang in...
Thanks so much! Sounds like it might be worth a try... I will attempt my best even though I know it will be a struggle with this one!
I got Jasmine (and our other 3) at our local feed store so they could have been from anywhere also! They sold her as an Amaurcana but after poking around on this...
Henspoopalot - Did you have any luck?? I just noticed today that our 4 week old EE has curled toes... I looked back and all of the photos I have of her has a baby she is covering her feet or she is perched so I can't tell when it started... I cannot believe I hadn't seen it before though...
She...
I am loving these names! Some of you are so creative!
My princess and Mario obsessed little (human) girls named our baby flock:
"Yoshi" - Black Australorp (I have suspicions that Yoshi might be a "He"... glad the name could go either way!)
"Daisy" - Delaware
"Cookie" - Buff Orpington...
Oh I love that idea! I am going to have to draw on the inside of my brooder for our baby flock! I don't have much experience as these are my first chicky babies (now 4 weeks) but I added a pine cone, a few sticks and a clean, empty ice cream carton. They love climbing all over everything and...
Hi all -
This is our first time raising chicks and we are so in love with our little flock! I know it is very early still but I was wondering if anyone has any guesses on gender for our BA chick? Yoshi is 4 weeks old today and I have been suspecting "roo" for a while strictly based on the fact...
