Ok she’s been getting better for the last few days, with Thet crest looking a bit better. She’s spent today in the coop where j thought she was laying, but she’s taken a turn for the worst. I took her kind and she’s a bit unstable on her feet. She is also expelling wet green poo. Any thoughts?
Ok just saw her do a poo. Looks like a bit of blood? But it’s mostly hard and a greenish colour. Also checked all the hens for mites but couldn’t see anything. Will check the hens vent shortly.
Not many. Was just surprised to see them. The hens are pretty good at catching them or dealing with them. I suppose it could be the age. But I checked the other Marans and they didn’t have any.
I saw them around the neck. Didn’t look anywhere else. But I did treat her around the neck, back near tail, under wings and on her underside near the neck.
She had mites a few days ago. Treated her yesterday with DE.
I put some food out a moment ago and she went to eat. She still has some enthusiasm for eating, but goes off it quickly. Tried adding some water to it but the other chickens are just interested in everything you put out. But by...
She’s a good size. I would say her tail is sticking up. Haven’t had Maran eggs in a bit, but I believe they were laying until recently. Will try a bit of food. She does have a peck at some food once in a while I noticed. She’s proofing normally. I have been giving them a super mix corn...
Ok she is 6 years old, but have others around the same age. She is hiding away behind the water dispenser and not eating. She has been suffering with scale leg for a while so treated her for that. Also noticed that she had red mites, so I treated her with DE. My 3 Marans are a good weight...
I can see the hole. The crust is to the side. I put germolene on it this morning. She looked a bit chirpy this morning. I gave her some watered down food. I’ll have another go now before the evening.
Can you get a wound antibacterial easily at a pet store? She is still alive thank God. I gave her some water from a syringe, to keep her going through the night. I’ll pop into a pet store in the morning.
The ear is like a hardened crust, which is obviously painful for her. So I couldn’t...
Thank you for your reply. I live in the UK in Birmingham.
I’m out at the moment and daylight saving time is on (doh!). So by the time I make it home it will be dark. I’m looking for a quick fix, although a local pet supplies store might be open. Would cider vinegar or olive oil help until I...
