I think that in the US and somewhat the UK "cob" or "cobb" is used to reference both a few breeds of horses and ponies as well as types of horses (but maybe I'm wrong!), but in scandinavia it isn't used unless we speak specifically about one of the cob breeds. Like a Welsh Cob or Irish Cob. Not...
I know I'm bias but I always loved the heavier, cold blood horses. Friesans, highlands, clydesdales, fjords, icelands... shetlands. All of them! (though I'd love an akhal theke as a pet! 😁 ).
Absolutely excellent name! They are beautiful horses as well! And if you ever want to practice your...
They are very cute, but the mutation that causes their ears to fold also affects the cartilage and sometimes bones in the rest of their bodies - especially if you breed two cats with a visible fold. It's so bad that some countries have banned breeding them.
Us humans always mess things up! 😩
There is no cob in them though, they originate from a native Swedish breed. :) But I see what you mean!
Your Apollo sounds stunning! I love a white leg.
No, the standardbred is a warmblooded horse, the coldblooded trotter is as the name says, a coldblooded horse bred for harness racing. They originate from the North Swedish draft horse and the Norwegian Dølahest. :)
Here's a standardbred, Viking Kronos:
And a cold blooded trotter:
Both breeds...
They are gorgeous! Common in Finland and Norway as well. I'd say they stand between 150cm to 165cm, anything above that is a very large/too large horse. My first mare was 148. :)
I'm not sure if you guys measure in hands or inches?
Standardbreds are amazing too and a very common horse in Sweden...
My last few horses were a modern line of the same breed, now separated and called cold blood trotters.
Absolutely amazing allround animals!
This is Ruben, my last boy. ❤️
Not at all in racing condition I might add. 😁 Eight year old Stallion E: Järvsöfaks.
I adore the Swedish Native working breeds. They are smallish for a heavy horse and nimble enough to work in dense and sensitive forest areas. They have no excessive feathering and are healthy, sturdy, energetic and have amazing temperament! Suitable for most hobby sports in riding as well. I...
Prim is back to displaying! Didn't get the memo that breeding season is over. 😁 Looking good though, and he isn't at all as intense as he was this spring. Thank goodness!
