I've been breeding and hatching purchased eggs for about a year now. Located in middle Arizona, Prescott area. I do ship adults, not chicks.
This is really a hobby for me, not a big business.

I just hatched 6 ducklings from Metzer Farms from 12 eggs that I purchased (they sent 13) They were packed beautifully in foam inserts, clean and arrived quickly. Ashley was a delight to deal with, I had lots of questions as these are my first ducks.
The last one had to be helped out and it's a...
Much to my surprise, my first year breeding trio of black hen, white hen and my crazy rooster that no one seems to know the color of, are producing paint babies. I'm almost
sure it's the white hen, as she's hatched two herself.
Just reading as much as I can and this thread has been great.
I have a sweet 4 month old Ameraucana* roo to rehome. I call him flame because of his blue and red coloring, he's stunning but I am only keeping silkie roos for now. He's been raised on organic foods and handled a lot so he's friendly.

Getting eggs from your area will probably still be closely related to your birds. I would suggest going out of state.
I have birds from N.CA, S.CA, PA, TN, AZ, TX and have had decent luck hatchings shipped eggs if that's an option.
What a nice gift!!! My guys are only 10 days old so not an issue yet. I normally have them sold before they get to 3 weeks! I have switched from red lamps to black ceramic bulbs too. Those red lamps make me nervous!!!
I have been using mine for over a year now and LOVE it. I put a paper towel on the top so it's easier to clean. Once they get tall, I turn it on it's side....they can still huddle up against the warm top. I will never use red heat lamps again! I currently have 11 Bielefelder chicks and 3 silkies...

This was my theory too...I have hatched eggs from 7 different breeders across the US for diversity. My youngest are just 10 days old, oldest is 2 months.
It only takes a few drops of the extract, Whole Foods or one of those specialty stores carry it. I put in a spray bottle and spritz it a few times a day. I miss my lemon tree!!!
I'm doing this too this year :) I buy organic barley, what are you sprouting? I ordered some sprouting peas from Azure but they didn't send them with my Scratch n Peck food which I order every month. A tip: add some grapefruit seed extract to the rinsing water. It helps keep mold away.
