So Sorry to hear of your loss.We all know it happens with young chicks. You did a great job with her,but sometimes it's just not met to be.Keep your head up and enjoy your new babies and that wonderful daughter of yours...... chip
Congratulations on your new babies. They are so adorable. Mine don't ship untill the end of May and now I'm jealous too. lol
Good luck with all of them !
It sounds like Freedom Rangers would be a good choice for you.I think they can get most of what they need on good pasture but,not all of it.Good Luck !
It got down to - 15 last night, here where I live, in upstate NY.Todays high was 10 above and I have 6 Buckeye hens out in the coop.I have'nt gotten any eggs for about 2 months. The girls are cold and the days are still short.Time to pack everything up and head south I think. lol
As the other poster said.It depends on many different things. One thing you can try,if you want eggs,is give them extra light hours because of the short day length in the winter season. Some of mine will take a break for a few months during the cold northern winters and short days.
Good Luck !
A lot of it depends on how far gone the old shed is.In my case, every time I build a new shed,it ends up becoming the new chicken coop anyway.Oh well, one of these days. lol
I have 15 Buff Orpington chicks coming around April 1st from Mt.Healthy and 20 Brown Egg Layer hybrids coming from Moyers about the same time.I think I've gone and ordered to many chicks again, but oh well,It's not the first time.
Has anyone out there ordered the Brown Egg Layers from Moyers Hatchery ? They are a cross from a White Plymouth Rock hen and a Rhode Island Red rooster and I have not heard much about them.
I have 15 straight run Buff Orpington chicks coming the end of March from Mt.Healthy Hatchery.
I'm going to keep one rooster and let some hens hatch their chicks in the coop. I hope anyway.
You may want to think about reloading your own ammo, thats what I do and it's a great hobby as well..I've never bought loaded ammo on line and I think the shipping is pretty expensive. Good Luck !
