I couldn't find any place level in my whole run and even when I would put gravel and a flat block in the girls would dig around it and un-level the waterer causing the water all to leak out. So I had to get a hanging one. This one works well- the handle is sturdy and its easy to clean and unhook...
My leghorns were extremely flighty when I got them at a few days old. I was very disappointed as my previous chickens were all extremely friendly as babies. I got 2 red leghorns and 2 white leghorns. I gave up trying to pick them up when they were little as I felt like I was just scaring them...
Usually I'm home most of the time but I am actually going to Florida for a week on Feb 2nd. I am in desperate need of some sun before I get a knee replacement on Feb 14th
My chickens are 5-7 years old right now. I've only lost 1 to a predator and it was a hawk that found a hole in the netting over their pen. He got in and got one but couldn't get out. I had to grab him and untangle his feet to get him out. He was a beautiful bird and I couldn't fault him for...
I'm excited for my chickens to resume laying. My flock is rather old-5-7 years old so I added 7 new chicks. They have just turned 5 months old last week. Do you think they will start laying in the winter or will they wait until Spring?
We moved here in May and we are just finishing up our pen.Seems like we have been working on one project or another continually since we moved in. We have miniature horses also. I will have to get on here more often- I joined a long time ago but never posted until last week!
Thanks for the info. I got 2 white leghorns and 2 red leghorns and a barred rock (turns out he is a rooster) from tractor Supply late summer. they are just coming on 5 months. My original group of chickens are somewhere around 7 years old so are not laying as much as they used to.I'd be happy to...
Hi! I just moved to the West Jefferson area in May 2017. I have had chickens for about 10 years. I was in Raleigh before here and chicken raising was very popular there. We even had a Tour de Coop where we opened up about 15 backyard chicken coops for touring to raise money for Urban...
Thanks for the positive comments. I thought it might take some coaxing to get the girls to go across the bridge but they were actually all lined up waiting to use it even before we finished it. What is really cute is that if I'm on one side they all come running and then when I go to the other...
We recently built a 10 ft high bridge for our chickens to go out to a new pen. They are so cute when they cross over. If I call them back (like in this video) they all come running.
.
Has anyone else built a bridge? I was just curious.
