In contrast...my future shipment cost me more for shipping than eggs, and they have a 5 star review from hundreds of people. I'd happily pay for better quality shipping (and not during the worst freeze in decades) and have a more normal hatch rate.
For the price they charge, on eggs I can't choose...they SHOULD have wrapped them in bubble wrap! Im not the only one. I read the negatives and still trusted. I've hatched many eggs before, not my first rodeo. But def the worst yet. Should have listened to reviews, their rating is like 3.8!!
So, Iveread reviews on M McMurray, I remember Martha Stewart endorsing them a decade ago...I feel like they have lost their cred. I ordered a dozen mixed 'special' eggs, wasnt expecting anything crazy, but out of 11 incubated (1 cracked from freeze in shipment), I had ONE hatch this Wednesday...
Thank you, I appreciate this! I was thinking along those lines, it seems to be bored and for sure the other quail have "taught" the new hatches on food and water. Going to give it till end of today and then add to general pop when Im able to watch! I'll update on results!
Hilarious, Im so happy I read this! I've been keeping for 12 years and every day is still an adventurous riot (a d now I've added quail to my flock!) Thanks for the morning laugh!
One of my black Coturnix quail hatched with a twisted beak (like a grosbeak bird), and missing her left eye :( It's been 2 days now in the incubator, its running around and vocal like crazy! I've been using a dropper to give magic water, but haven't sen it try to peck food yet. The energy...
So I had one of my black coturnix hatch early this morning, otherwise running around, interacting w others, chirping away, but noticed her beak was twisted (like a grosbeak). Upon closer viewing...missing left eye, like born this way and it never formed, and beak twists same way.
So this babe...
So, great update everyone! We JUST hatched number 28...from the earliest egg batch! Black chicks were 2 days behind and now are almost 100%hatch rate (!) , and just got another all white coturnix chick...incubator is running fine, I just think its egg age, breed, etc. Number 29 is trying to...
19, 20 and 21 hatched this evening, day 21! And two more pipping that I can actively see...brings our hatch rate up to almost 50% and from the chirping, sounds like more otw! How much fun, Im a total addict now! All my worrying for nothing lol...have to stay off YouTube, those peeps are so wrong!
