Thanks for your reply. The eggs are indeed a fresh set, arriving in just two days. The original set showed up 10! days after Priority Mailing from Ohio to Virginia, and I didn't even bother setting those.
Yes, you can remove the turner for lockdown. You just need to be careful not to drop your eggs when lifting it out, as it can get a little wobbly. While I suppose you could move the eggs first, I just take out the turner, eggs and all, and then carefully lay the eggs back in the incubator.
I had good success with the quail eggs I purchased on eBay last year, and have three sets of eBay bantam chicken eggs in my incubator right now. Like any buying forum, there are good and bad sellers. But it's not as hard to tell them apart as you might think. You can look at a seller's feedback...
