I wanted to ask if anyone has or gets a d'uccle rooster and needs a good home please let me know. I have 18 full size hens and 1 porcelain d'uccle hen. I like to have 1 rooster but with my 1 bantam I want a little rooster.
Has anyone ever had a breed that didn't accept the babies?
So far I have done this with the following breeds :
Barnvelder , langshaw, Brama , Plymouth , seabright (annoying broody 5 x a year for the non setter. I had to give her away)
It has always worked for me. I think they are just so happy to be done. Have to do it at night. It is all her sister's fault she had to have chicks so now this one wants her own. Broody begets broody.
Does anyone have any 3 days or younger chicks? I have a broody barnvelder that has been sitting for 3 weeks and I need to slip her some chicks this weekend because I love her and need her to be done!!!
I have been using the smoke fire damper as well. I originally posted it. I have it on a time clock and it opens in the morning an closes at night. It works great! It operates at 120 volts
I usually give them a few so they can be moms. My problem is I really don't need any more chickens. Right now I am trying to reduce my flock. I currently have 7 Roos that need homes.
I have 2 hens brooding right now in the winter. Is this common? Does anyone have this happening right now? My non setter Seabright just had her chicks 4 months ago and is brooding again?
I have a de uccle hen. She was born in February and still has not laid an egg? All her other bantam buddies a seabright, Cochin, 2 Dutch have laid eggs and all of them went broody and they all are mamas and she has not even laid an egg? Is she hiding them somewhere?
