What is this?? Injured, weak baby chick

@Wyorp Rock @BDutch @Phantom-Brahma Newest development! I was just snuggling the little baby on my chest and realized the poor baby is COVERED in poultry lice. I think I have some dust, but don't think it will make it at this point. Poor baby!!

What is this?? Injured, weak baby chick

Thank you!! We are loving on it this morning, but it does seem to just be getting weaker, poor baby. I will try the electrolytes with egg and feed. It did have a big healthy poop overnight, but is just not fighting as hard as I wish she was!

What is this?? Injured, weak baby chick

I have not yet seen her poop, but she was prior to me bringing her inside. She has drank every hour, but no food. I did not pull on anything, just ran a little bit of water over her feathers to make sure her vent was clear. I will continue with water with Red-vival and I swear I have...

I don't have either at the moment, but thought the Red-Vival was similar!

What is this?? Injured, weak baby chick

After I gently washed it up and went back to check on it, the blood had completely dried and just fell off and doesn't appear to be bleeding anymore! It is still wobbly and not standing upright much, though so I am still making it drink every hour and will probably let it go back to...

What is this?? Injured, weak baby chick

I don't even know what to google lol, but I am curious if it has something to do with its belly button?? Did NOT know chicks have an umbilical cord!

What is this?? Injured, weak baby chick

I bought a chick 6 days ago and noticed yesterday it was a little slower than its mates and wobbly. I have it being raised with a Mama hen that was broody, and I HATE to intervene, but this "injury" has me perplexed and I imagine the other chicks will peck at it and make it worse. Anyone seen...

So much chicken drama! Please help! Info heavy!!!

My flocks are all disorganized, and I have crowding and pecking because of it! I need to move ladies around, but I am overthinking how to do so in the best way for them all. I have 3 flocks, 3 coops and 3 runs! Flock 1's coop is 8'x8' with a 10'x24' run (I think), it's intended to house 16...

    New flock and leg injuries!

Yes I do! I have 2 other flocks besides this new one. I have my established flock, my flock I added last year and now these girls. These new ones are on one side of our acre property and the others live on the other side.

    New flock and leg injuries!

Really helpful info!! I think I just had a hen die from Mareks. She moved very slow, had the dehydrated comb, and the very end wouldn't eat. It was sad!

    New flock and leg injuries!

Thank you for the reply! I ended up going on a Mareks research rabbit hole and I had no idea what it was!!! I will for sure be getting vaccinated chicks/hens from now on. I was hoping their updated, almost 10'x10' run might be enough to get them through quarantine, but I can get creative. I...

    New flock and leg injuries!

I just bought a flock of 10 hens of some production breed from my brother in law and am kind of regretting it! I know basically nothing about their lives up to know, but they're kind of struggling. My main issue is I had one hen limping and laying down a lot yesterday. Today, that hen seems...

Best place for roosts and nests

I went and looked at your brooder box! That's really cool! I am going to have to consider that in my future plans to remodel my other coops this Spring!
