I have a chicken that has lost so many feathers I see her skin. Is this normal during molting or do you think she is being picked on by the other chickens? Please help I have never seen anything like this!

I live in the mountains in the upper part of SC. I will get one of the Easter eggers as I have seen a good many roos up for trade or sell here where I live.

I do not mind the breeding but was mostly curious which makes a good protector.

I want to get a rooster for my girls which are golden comets. What are your suggestions as to type of roo I should get?

I just collected eggs and one of my hens laid a soft shelled egg. ?????? curious to know what is going on. Other are hard shelled. They free range in my back yard ....... what am i missing.....

I got my first egg today! My girls are 24 weeks today!!!

Some of there waddles and combs are hugh and bright red. I have been noticing that them seem redder each day!

How long do you think before she lays?

My 6 hens are now 22 weeks old. I just noticed this morning that one of them has arranged the hay in what looks the the beginning of a nest. Is this an indication that one of the is fixing to lay?
