Roo with very pale comb and wattles

We have cleaned all three coops used Sevin dust on everything and replaced bedding. I will dust all the birds once they roost this evening. Thank you for your help.

Roo with very pale comb and wattles

I just went into the coop to check for eggs. Is it possible that red mites caused this? My arm was covered. By the way, they eat regular layer pellets with the occasional veggie treat.

Roo with very pale comb and wattles

JJ, no new chickens. Bio-security and all that. Too many chickens to notice what his poop looks like. He's always the porker in the coop until the last day or so. I'm going out to try and take a picture. Thanks for your posts.

Roo with very pale comb and wattles

Thanks, the black on his comb may be just that. What has me really anxious is how pale he is. I'm going out to see if I can take a picture. i'll be back.

Roo with very pale comb and wattles

I have a very special to me Black Copper Marans roo that is almost a year old. he had some dark spots on his comb this week that i thought were dried blood spots from an altercation with another rooster. This morning I went out and his comb and wattles are exceptionally pale - I have never...

I need advice from people of the north!

Quote: We live in Ohio which does get cold. We have well insulated coops and do not use heat unless it gets below zero. Then we use a heat lamp only overnight and close the pop door when it's dark. Alot of people use heat in their coops but we haven't lost a chicken or had frostbite in the...

How do you clean a Polish crest?

Tomato Lady - you can use neosporin on your little one but make sure it is the kind without pain relief. I've used it. Good luck

How much did you spend on your coop? **Update with pics on pg. 12**

DH built the coop. This one is a duplex - divided in half for 2 different breeds with two separate runs. The coop looks like a regular stick building with a real roof. Both of the runs are partially roofed and they have skylights windows and electronic ventilation. The building is insulated...

Needing help, think my Hen may be dying.

I agree with Ohio Farm girl. Please separate her from the other chickens. She needs a break. Also, gently clean the area with the injury and I've read you can apply neosporin (without pain relief) to the wound. Someone who knows something more will surely respond. Good luck to you and...

    Seafood for chickens?

I work for a seafood restaurant and we cut our own fish. Could I give scraps (including bones) to the chickens? If I can, do they have to be cooked or can I feed them raw? I know they'll eat just about anything but I just don't know if its safe. Thanks, Georgetta
