I'm needing to rehome my roo Lenny. We were buying a house in the country but the owner backed out. Easiest way to find a new owner? He's about 4 months old (this is an old picture). I'm in the Oklahoma City area.
Still not sure how to tell the difference in hen and rooster silkies. This one is about 8-9 weeks old. I'm assuming it's non-bearded, but this is my first silkie and I'm still learning. She's still pretty skittish, but getting better.
Based on what little I know from what people have told me, they all look like Roos. :( BUT I'm no expert. Still very much a newbie. Fingers crossed for a pullet. We just renamed our Molly to Lenny.
I had my doubts. The lady we got him from said it would be a hen, but the personality and temperament seemed more roo. THANKS, we're actually okay with this one being a roo!
Here's my crazy little cochin again. The other picture I had posted was a few weeks ago. We think it's a pullet. She's got some gold and even a greenish tone on some feathers. [/IMG]
My husband and I started building one last night! We made it a little bigger 10x4 rather than 8x4. It got too late to finish but hope to have it down this weekend. We've got 12 6-8 week olds we'll be putting in there! My husband already had a design but I pulled this one and we went off your...
Thanks!! Right now they're still in a smaller confined space. Moving them to a larger free range this weekend hopefully. Weather has been crazy here and I've been concerned about it still being too cold at night (just a couple weeks ago it was getting down in the 30's) for such young chicks. Now...
THANK YOU all for your help and info. I'll keep you posted on how she does. Based on look, I don't believe she (Molly as she's been named) is a roo... but I agree, you never know until you hear that crow! Our straight run red that I can already tell is a roo based on looks is starting to crow a...
Hello all! I'm brand new to raising chickens. I got a white silkie from a breeder. I was told it was a hen, but I'm not 100%. I'm not as concerned at this point about the sex, but more so as to how unsocial she is with me. She runs and will fly if we try to pick her up. She won't even eat from...
I think so! If you can tell in the picture it has some gold tipped feathers and a little gold throughout. I didn't realize that color can have anything to do with temperament. I'm very new to raising chickens! Still reading, and learning!! Thanks :)
